Off Our Streets, Out of Our Communities: Abolish ICE & Border Patrol for Good — NOW!

A GOVERNMENT THAT claims the right to blow up unarmed boats at sea in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific will also feel free to kill its population at home.

A government that kidnaps the ruler of a foreign country, seizes its resources, and proclaims the intention to “run the country for years” will trample the democratic freedoms and civil rights of its own population with equal arrogance.

The violent terror campaign unleashed against immigrants has resulted in the murder of Renee Good, who answered a call to observe ICE presence. Trump has doubled down by threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act to quell the growing tide of protests in Minneapolis and beyond. This is designed to intimidate anyone who stands up against ICE and Border Patrol terror. It arises out of the tradition that U.S. police have used against Black and Indigenous people since the founding of the United States: surveying, stopping, arresting, killing.

Trump’s assertion of a “Donroe Doctrine,” threats to take Greenland, and pursuit of a white supremacist, domestic agenda all reflect an attempt to dominate the world on behalf of Trump and his cronies. The fights to stop these atrocities at home and abroad are really one and the same struggle.

Said a snarling ICE agent, “Haven’t you learned from the last two days?” as he confronted a woman protester, grabbing and throwing her phone to the ground. In fact, YES: Hundreds of thousands, even millions of people across this country have learned from the execution of Renee Good that we are in a fight for our rights and our lives.

The year 2025 was the deadliest on record for deaths in ICE’s infamous privately run detention and torture facilities, with 32 fatalities recorded among the more than 68,000 people they currently hold. And Keith Porter, Jr. — an African American father with two children — was shot to death on New Year’s Eve by an off-duty immigration officer at his Los Angeles apartment complex.

Six federal prosecutors in Minneapolis have resigned over Trump’s Department of Justice demand that they investigate Renee and her widow Becca Good over so-called “ties with activist groups,” which of course are legal under the U.S. Constitution or what remains of it. Five more in Washington, DC, quit after the DOJ announced (predictably) that there will be no federal civil rights investigation into Renee Good’s murder.

Vice President J.D. Vance called the Minneapolis protests the work of “a matrix of radical leftist” organizers. No one needs to be a “radical leftist” to know that Vance is a cynical liar, along with Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller and Donald Trump — but these are the symptoms of the sickness of a vicious system.

The situation indeed demands “radical” solutions. Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey has demanded that ICE agents “take off their masks.” Quite right, but only the start. ICE and Border Patrol agents need to be not only unmasked, but also their agencies abolished and dismantled. We need an immigration services agency that helps immigrants integrate into society with legal and social services. These goons came into the cities “packing.” They need to be sent packing for good, off our streets and out of our communities — along with the mafia-like authorities who sent them, the president who thinks he owns the world, and the system of exploitation and oppression they serve.
