Solidarity Pre-Convention Discussions, July/August

THURSDAYS, JULY 17 & 31, AUGUST 14 & 28 AT 8PM EDT

OUR JULY 17 PRE-CONVENTION ZOOM MEETING for Solidarity members and formal sympathizers will focus on the U.S. political crisis as the U.S. Supreme Court gives a green light to the executive branch — and as Congress capitulates to the bullying of the would-be king.

For the meeting this Thursday we’d like to focus on the narrowing of due process and its implications as the Trump team moves ahead with its plan to criminalize all who stand in its way, whether to speak or demonstrate against genocide in Gaza, to protect neighbors and coworkers kidnapped by masked men, or who have the audacity to demand affordable housing, medical care and a decent life.

The National Committee has allotted the two meetings in July to discuss aspects of the U.S. political and economic issues we are facing, thinking that in August we would focus more on the Left and on Solidarity’s tasks. However, we recognize as we discuss the crisis, we will also be discussing unions, community organizations, social movements and the Left’s role. Nothing is out of order.

We encourage all members and sympathizers to contribute to this discussion! In writing a comment, question or submitting a resolution, please put FOR PRE-CONVENTION DISCUSSION in the subject line on the Solidarity Members list. You can write directly to the NC at: soli-nc2021@lists.riseup.net.

So far in preparation for our 2025 Solidarity Convention we have had three pre-convention zoom discussions in as well as the panel discussion on immigration (which concluded our 7-part class series). We have four more sessions scheduled, included this Thursday, July 17.

When you register for this meeting, you will be registered for all the bi-weekly meetings leading up to our September 12-14 National Convention, which is also over zoom.

Let’s move our discussion forward! Join us!
