As Israel’s year of genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing in Palestine now spreads to war in Lebanon, with increasingly devastating civilian destruction, how can we understand this expanding crisis in the Middle East? How do these events intersect with U.S. politics and the November election?
Panelists:
Gilbert Achcar, analyst and author of many books and articles on the Middle East and North Africa. including THE PEOPLE WANT: A Radical Exploration of the Arab Uprising (2013), MORBID SYMPTOMS: Relapse in the Arab Uprising (2016), THE NEW COLD WAR: THE United States, Russia and China from Kosovo to Ukraine (2023) and most recently a collection of his columns Israel’s War on Gaza (2024).
Howie Hawkins, a member of the Green Party and the Ukraine Solidarity Network, will update the status of Russia’s war in Ukraine, the divisions in U.S. politics, and the Democratic Party’s efforts to keep the Green Party off the ballot. His recent ATC article on imperialism and anti-imperialism was in the March-April issue.
