Location. The Summer School will be held at a college campus on the north side of Chicago, Illinois. We’ll email you the precise location and directions once you’ve registered.

How to register. Register online here. Attending the entire school costs $40 ($20 low-income); a day pass is $15 ($10 low-income). When you register for the school, select the type of registration as well as the appropriate meals and housing—“Meals and Housing Package” if you’re staying on campus, “Commuter Meals-Only Package” if you’re staying elsewhere. See below for more information about housing and meals.

You may pay online, by check or money order, or in person at the summer school. If you are paying by mail or in person, select the “Will Pay Offline” options.

Getting there. Book your travel now! If you are attending the entire school, please plan to arrive at the site by 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24th. The school ends at noon on Friday the 26th, but Solidarity members planning to stay in Chicago for the National Convention should plan to leave on flights departing after 6pm on Sunday, July 28th.

From Midway Airport, the summer school location is about 1 hour 30 minutes by transit or 35 minutes by car. From O’Hare, it’s 45 minutes by transit or 20 minutes by car; from Union Station and downtown, it’s 1 hour by transit or 20 minutes by car.

Housing. Housing is available in the college dormitory for the nights of Wednesday, July 24th and Thursday, July 25th, at the affordable rate of $31 per person, per night. Each room has two single beds with linens. You can indicate your choice of roommate on the online registration form; if you don’t have a roommate, we can assign you one. Per campus rules, dorms are sex segregated except for couples and families, so please indicate this if you would like to room with a partner or family member of a different sex. We do not have the dorms Tuesday night—if you arrive early, you must arrange your own housing for that night.

The campus is “dry”—there can be no alcohol on site. There are bars within walking distance for attendees who would like to drink. There is no smoking inside the residence hall, but you can smoke outside. Also, please note that rooms are not air-conditioned—bring a fan if you’re driving. We will have fans available for those who can’t bring them.

We also have a list of nearby motels, which we’ll email you when you register.

Meals. All meals are provided as part of the summer school at a cost of $54 (which amounts to $9 per meal). Solidarity will provide continental breakfast; we will eat in the campus dining hall for lunch and dinner. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available. Please register for meals even if you are staying off-campus, in order to ensure a cohesive experience of the school and enough time to eat during breaks.

Child care. Child care is free. If you need child care, please register by July 10th so we have time to organize it.

If you have any questions, please email info@solidarity-us.org.
